CLEANING STEPS
STEP 1
Using a brush, gently brush the outside and inside of the nest to remove some dirt and some small feather on the nest.
STEP 2
Soak the nests in a bowl containing fresh water within 2-3 hours (depending on the thickness of the nest) until the nest is soft and separated
* Note:
● When cleaning the nest, do not soak the nest in anything other than clean water (such as cooking oil) as well as hot water which will reduce nutrients or lose the characteristic smell of oats and make difficulty for the next steps in cleaning the nest.
● Soaking the nest for too long (over 4 hours) will also cause loss of nutrient content.
STEP 3
● After soaking to soften the nest, let the nest drained and put on a clean white dish (easy to see the feather) and put aside cup of clean water.
● Then we start to pick up from the large hairs, impurities inside the nest (eggshell, other impurities ..) and the small hairs. Clean cup of water used to clean tweezers after picking up the feather.
STEP 4
● After picking up the feathers, the nest was relatively clean. You can repeat step 3 again if the nest still left many impurities and large hairs.
● If there are some small feathers and impurities that are too small and difficult to remove, lightly separate them into small pieces and put them to the strainer inside a bowl of clean water (use a strainer with small holes to reduce losses of nest). Use spoon stirring slowly and rinse under clean water several times to remove excess impurities and fluff. Repeat until all parts of the bird are completely clean.
*Note :
● If you clean many nests at the same time to save time, remaining nest can be stored in the refrigerator and reserve in week. The bird nest should be drained and store in a covered container or bowl with food-wrapped before put into refrigerating to prevent spoilage or bacteria, and odors by other foods affect the oats.
● After cleaning the nest - The easiest and most effective way to prepare the bird nest is distillation because it preserve the nutrients in the nest.
● Bird nest is nutritious food for human health and beauty,however, bird nest is not medicine. For the nest to be best use, you need to consume bird nest regularly and with right dosage, instead of consume large amounts randomly which will make the body difficult to absorb completely.
● It is best to consume bird nest when hungry because the body can completely absorb the nutrients. The best time to eat bird nest is 1 hour before bedtime when the hormones in the body is high that maximize nutrients absorption.
